A fabulous 19th century English mahogany campaign chest, with original brass name plaque to the top. The plaque reads C.E. Johnston, Esq, possibly for Charles Edward Johnston, a prominent 19th century merchant. These chests were used as gentleman’s travel trunks or for military campaigns. Featuring brass edging and hardware, along with a drawer to the base. A handsome chest which would make a unique coffee table or storage chest in any room of the home.
