An incredible country oak pig bench, and a wonderful example of 19th century English rural vernacular craftsmanship from East Anglia. Featuring a very thick handhewn chunky top along with pegged joints, with richly worn patina, along with four slightly splayed legs. Smaller and more portable benches such as this were used for general tasks like chopping wood, coopering, or making fences and hurdles along with grooming and feeding tasks in outbuildings. Once a humble tool of rural life, now a sculptural and decorative example of rural craftsmanship. This would make a very unique side table, plant stand or sculptural piece.
