A fabulous 18th century giltwood marriage or bridal mirror from the Louis XVI period. The neoclassical ornamentation includes a basket of flowers with leaf festoons and the original green coloured frame. These marriage mirrors, or miroir de mariage, were traditionally given as prestigious wedding gifts by the groomβs family to the new bride to symbolize a prosperous future and to decorate their new home together. In great condition with original gilded work, mirror and board back. A great interior design piece for any room of the home.
